Good Morning!

So how did the weekend go peoples? It was pretty hot around here Saturday but Sunday was lovely and at sunset Bret and I took the little car out with the top down and enjoyed the cool evening air. IT WAS BLISSFUL. This picture was taking facing the bay and what you really probably can't see here was FOG!! The ocean fog creeps into the valley and you can see the start of it at the horizon line. And this morning the sky is overcast and its cool. Temps in the 80's today inland where we are. I could not be happier.
I got an email from Charlotte over the weekend and she let me know that my Betty's Baby Bowtie quilt pattern had an error in it. YIKES. I've corrected the post to include the correct measurement for the setting square ( cut 4 1/2 inches) and the finished size ( 28 x 36). The pdf will be corrected at some point today, so be sure if you printed it out, you reprint or make a correction on your copy. I apologize for the error!!
Today is going to be a fun one. Holly is in town and we're meeting up with her for lunch! Perfect weather for us today, lunching maybe al fresco.
So tell me, did you get any sewing done? .

Red Letter Day

More bathroom studio shots. Its just the most convenient place to get a shot of purse with the handles up. I used a variety of the Red Letter Day fat quarters and lined it with a nice sturdy cotton duck. The duck helps it stand up on it's own without an extra layer of stiff interfacing.
Lately I'm using a lot of Fusible Fleece and Fusible Thermolam, and I like them a lot. I used the Thermolam on the outer portion of the bag. I had great luck again, none of those weird fusing spots that look wrinkly. I have some Peltex I'm interested in trying as well. The price is right and it has the firmness that some of the other more expensive fusible products have.
I was looking into interfacing and other fusible products and came across this over at the Pellon website. Thought you might be interested.
So anyway, it was a super fun and cheery project to work on and I hope would be Lizzy approved.
p.s. the cookies get thumbs up!

This is my life.

So I'm still working on my project, hopefully revealed tomorrow if I knuckle down. I've had some challenges. You know the kind, the internet, email, blogs, my latest obsession with this. (don't judge me, it's nerdsville around here.) But I'm still thinking of you peeps. Get a load of my new sleeve roll. I call it the ham, although a pressing ham is different and of course, obviously, ham shaped. I haven't been satisfied with my seam pressing making bags and this little tool really gets in to the small places.
Also shown here, new to me 100 calorie pack! Double Chocolate Chip cookie. Don't know if they're any good yet. Hopefully they will fuel my afternoon with chocolately chip goodness. It's going to be a hot one today, so time to get my few errands run and get back home while it's not scorching. Have a good day peeps.

Work in Progress

It has been a while.. quite a while, since Lizzy sent me the fat quarter bundle of her wonderful fabric, Red Letter Day. Honestly I was totally flattered that she wanted me to work with her new line. But then totally intimidated by the fact that I'm really not very hip and this is a hip line. Lizzy is so cool and arty, you know official art school arty, and I'm a mom covered in thread sitting at home in mom-clothes. So I've had this pile looking at me for a while, and finally today I made my pattern piece and I CUT INTO IT. Trying to find a way into making something me but something cool too. Kid-cool. Not mom-cool. Its really a stretch.
I'll let you know.

Wait what?

I have a blog? Yeah, after a week of really letting Alex do my blogging for me over on the Quilt Show Blog, I had a hard time getting back in the groove this morning.

Bret had Friday and Monday off and its great having him home but it threw me off my schedule a bit. (Ha ha, I know, like I actually have a schedule.) I have been accomplishing things, did a bit of stunt work for Alex, here's some of the new redwork fabric we cut and folded last week. Over the weekend I did a quicky project for her and we'll be blogging that on the TQS site soon I think. Not only that, but I finished up my Happy Campers project for the Moda Bake Shop and that will be appearing on September 3. Get out your rufflers people.
One thing I haven't been doing is complaining about the weather. It's been wonderful. This morning it was overcast and very cool and damp. Like fall. FALL PEOPLE!!! Usually back-to-school time is super hot, so I'm more than grateful for this pleasant weather.
So that's all my news people. What's new with you?

It's all about me.

Well today is my day over at The Quilt Show. I'm more than a little nervous.. I don't remember much of what I said but I'm pretty sure if it was awful Alex wouldn't be playing it, right? Not that there isn't some crazy stuff coming. In a day. Or so.

Now here's something that's got me wondering, why did Alex leave town yesterday?

Fab Friday

Another lazy Friday morning on the porch. It's cool here, I almost, almost, need a sweater. It won't last but supposedly its going to be cooler today. Fortunately even though the weather heated up the past few days, I was able to keep my complaints to a minimum.
You're on to me peeps. I did use more than one bag to get that little Pam Quilts bunch of cookies.. but it was just 2 1/2..I was half way into the first bag before I thought of it. So I just collected them up as I went. Over a couple of days. These are not my favorite 100 calorie snack, that would be the chocolate covered pretzels. The quilt was from a free pattern found here. It's a cute little pamphlet of kitcheny goodness.
Have a good weekend wonderful peeps.

Playing Hookie

Not much doing here peeps, did some instructions, some borders and cracked this open for an upcoming Moda Bake Shop project. What's new with you?

Good Morning!

How goes it? Was the weekend good? I got a lot done around here. My goal was to finish the center of my Simple Abundance quilt, and I did. Need to throw some borders on it and get it ready for the quilter. Check out my quilty best friends.. not the crazy rabbit from Frankie but the quilt tags... I think they're called Row by Row, Quilt Block Layout tags (by Quilt Dance). I love them. My design wall is not near my sewing machine so I use them to keep me organized. I like them better than sticky tags or tape. Anyway, I was dillydallying and suddenly I realized that wow, Quilt Market is not that far away. Most others have realized this already but it just crept up on me. I guess I better get busy if I want to have anything ready.
Ok, its mostly sewing and staying in here. The weather is heating back up. I'm trying not to be bitter about it. What's doing with you?

Quilters Inn

It is always a good trip when you go up to the Quilter's Inn. Here's Kathy (left) and Margaret (right) working away.

Margaret helping me out with my binding choice!

Here's a nice display of Art Gallery Fabrics.

I love this wonderful Halloween quilt.

Machine quilting by JoAnn Carpenter of Cherry Creek Quilting. I love the spiderwebs in the blocks and the pumpkins in the setting squares.

Of course Quilter's Inn is the local quilt shop of The Famous Bari J. Here's a nice display of her new line of fabric.
Here' s Bari's quilt.. isn't it lovely.

Here's a closeup to the collage border. Bari shares the pattern for this quilt here. You can read all about Bari on her blog. She's busy on a new adventure right now!

Ok people, I'm going to enjoy one of the last nice weather days around here. Hope you're having a great weekend!

Marby and the A's

Yesterday's trip to the Quilter's Inn was great. I have some photos to share but first off wanted to congratulate Marby Bennet for another wonderful Oakland A's Raffle Quilt for the team's Breast Cancer Awarness day.
Here's a close up of the poster. You can purchase tickets at The Quilter's Inn in person or by phone.

Ok peeps, happy weekend!

More weather

This summer has been rather uneventful it seems like. Days on end of staying home, which isn't like me. And that leads to blogging stuff like this. The weather. But hey, isn't it great? Fog people! This is from my trip to Diana's to pick up quilts yesterday.

You can see San Francisco is shrouded in it. Coastal fog makes for a nice cool Livermore Valley. And I LOVE IT.

You can also see I love this cute catfish sign. That's just an added bonus.

Today is stunt sewing day. Bindings for two quilts for Alex. I'm headed out to Quilter's Inn today to grab some binding fabric for one of the quilts. Hope you guys have a great day. xo

Tin Can Dreams

Lately there has been a lot of trailer talk in the blogs. Have you seen this post? It really has me swooning. This is a whole blog about a vintage travel trailer. And don't forget Suzanne and her road trip. Anyway it all has me thinking about the trailer we had when I was little. We probably got it in 1959-ish, my sister was born in early 1960 and she's not in these early photos, and my little brother was born in 1958 and he's there in the stroller. That's me lollygagging back there, perfecting the slouch at 5. We pulled that little trailer around for years when we were small, but probably by the end of the 60's it was retired and eventually sold. My mom and I were talking about it this past weekend. The trailer was always packed with its own dishes, and equipment, all you needed to add was a block of ice for the fridge and some food. Dad would call home telling us what time to be ready and off we'd go.
Sometimes at antique stores I see the old dishes like we had in the trailer. I think they were originally a cereal give-away if I'm not mistaken. I really need to grab one of those cups to have my coffee in. You know.. just for the memory.
Ok, enough lollygagging, I better get a move on. Have a wonderful day peoples! xo

Blogging for Bliss

Good morning Peeps! We might be joined by some new readers today visiting from the Blogging For Bliss Blog party. Kari is featuring a little get together of bloggers from Tara Frey's new book Blogging For Bliss. It's a chance for all of us to share our stories with you!

I'm so thrilled to be a part of Blogging for Bliss. There are so many wonderful bloggers in the book, some new to me and of course many of the blogs we already know and love. But the book isn't just a vehicle to feature bloggers, its a wonderful how-to book with the technical advice so many new bloggers are looking for. I hope you get a chance to read through it.

As for PamKittyMorning and my little blog about nothing... I couldn't be happier. I guess that's what bliss is right? I love coming here and chatting with you and I really love what you have to say back. Blogging has offered me the opportunity to look at my own life in a new way, and that's always good, right?

I hope you all get a chance to visit Kari' s blog and go through the list of bloggers who will be sharing their thoughts about blogging. I know most will be so much more eloquent talking about their story. I just know I couldn't do it without all of you! Thanks for everything peeps! xo

But I'm Not Complaining

Good morning peoples! How was the weekend? It was great here. Lots of lovely weather, all in the 80's, and seriously,I couldn't be happier. Oh wait, more 80's this week, I COULD!!!! Be happier that is, because I love cool weather.
I spent some time out back on the swing with coffee and this magazine. It's a lovely read, especially when you know some of the people included! Joanna's studio is just as lovely as it appears in the magazine.
I have also had the pleasure of meeting Debbee Thibault you might remember. I love her work.
Also in this magazine is a feature on Nicol Sayre. I met Nicol at quilt market the first year I went. She and Dee Foust had a pattern company called Folk and Whimsy and I loved their designs. They are local girls and we saw quite a bit of their creative genius at Going to Pieces where I worked. Its lovely to see her studio featured.

I did quite a bit of sewing over the weekend, and hoped to grab a nice fresh photo instead of these ... but with the lovely overcast gloom this morning, you'll have to settle for these.

Not the greatest but I am not complaining at all about the gloom and cool morning!! Not one bit. Ok peoples, I hope you had a good weekend. Tell me what you were up to if you're so inclined! xo

Weekend Update

Right now over at the Quilt Show Daily Blog Alex is featuring a 12 part series on how fabric is made. She's taken her video camera into the P&B offices to discuss the whole process, and its really interesting so far. Its just short bites so won't take up your whole day.
Ok peeps, back to the weekend stuff. See you next week.
