A little of this, a little of that

I have been doing a little cutting the past few days, in between working on new patterns and making trips to the airport and catching up on stuff around here.

Well it's more than a little cutting. Look at this lovely pile of prints, that's 51 out of 63 there, and they look so cheerful to me I could just stare. All day. But I won't, because even more fun that cutting and piling up...

...sewing. It's just a small start. But it's enough to keep me at my other tasks at hand, like pattern scrawling. I'm not going to say writing, that's what Elizabeth does. She'll turn them into something you might actually want to make.

Now, back at it. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

Here's another batch of Alden Lane Quilt Show photos. First off my friend Nurse Payne. It was so great to see her (and yes, honest, she's an actual nurse!) and have a minute to catch up. Usually we rendezvous in the freezer section at the supermarket. This was the perfect time to chat.

I love this series of color studies. I wish I could have gotten a better picture. I'm hoping that The Quilt Show has another slide show on the daily blog like last year, I know Mary Kay will do a nice job of putting that together!

I believe this orange quilt is one made by Alex in a Kaffe Fassett class over at the Cotton Patch in Lafayette. At least I'm pretty sure that's what Deb told me. I could easily be all mixed up. Believe me.

Pretty fall display right? That's Sandra Mollon's quilt there, she does beautiful applique. I believe the pattern is by Maggie Walker Designs.

Well that's about it from the show my pretties! I'm pretty sure pictures will start to crop up, there were a lot of people there! Now I need to hop in the car and head to the airport, Bret is due back from a long business trip to Virginia! See ya later! xo

Alden Lane

Another great quilt show at Alden Lane this weekend. The nursery is so beautiful and the weather really cooperated on Saturday, breezy, not too hot.

I love the plant groupings, it reminds me a lot of gathering beautiful fabrics together in a display.

I thought the quilt through the trellis was so pretty, like it was placed there to be framed as part of the display.

The back of the quilt was just as interesting as the front I thought, or.. was this side the front? I guess it could be either right?

Tracy of Plum Cute taught and also had a booth at the show. It was great to see her fresh off her summer vacation in Italy!

Verna was one of the guest artists at the show. She had a darling booth with her latest fabrics from Free Spirit.

Easy to pick out her pretty quilts hanging on the line here.

Rob Appell was also a featured artist at the show. He's a good friend of my friend KathiD so I had to go by and say hi!

He had a lot of quilts there, you can see some of his vibrant work here, and you may be familiar with his work here.

I'll have a few more photos for you tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed the show!

Crazytown

Well it's totally nuts that the last time I posted was WEDNESDAY NIGHT???? That is all kinds of crazy.

If you were imagining me leisurely cutting and sewing with some PamKitty fabric, I sure appreciate the thought. None of that went on. I did get a bunch cut, went to the Alden Lane quilt show, saw some great people including people I haven't seen in YEARS (I'm talking about your Sharon G.) saw some wonderful quilts, hung out with some really great peeps..

...and then sat all day ALL DAY Sunday working on some photoshop stuff for quilt market. I'm not complaining though, because it's all super fun. I'll be back tomorrow with some quilt show pictures.. you guys are awesome.

P.S. Don't forget to check with Sherri, her block is up and ready to be sewn..it's very cute! And it's Mystery Monday over at Sherri Fall's blog.. cutting time! Get busy everybody!

The Cat's Meow

Why yes that is just exactly what you think!!!

I think this is the most exciting thing I've had in the trunk of my car in a long time. Well since this anyway.

Hot!

Lots going on here at CasaKitty, what's new with you? Yesterday we had a couple of power outages. First in a long time. I don't know if they were heat related or just your random outage.. but the aftermath is never pretty. All that resetting of devices and clocks. Painful. And if any of you are automatic sprinkler designers, a pox on you. Just saying.

Tried to enjoy some swing time but it's just too hot. So I cleaned up my kitchen counters. That's the level of desperation. Mostly worried that my photoshop files were ok. That and the fact my phone wasn't fully charged, well desperate times people.

Wanted to give you a heads up on a fun give-away over at my friend Kathy's blog. She's designed another really cool Creative Grids ruler, so I hope you'll check it out. Another fun place to head to is my friend Sherri's blog. She has a Mystery Monday program going on and it's just starting. I think it looks like fun. And lastly, this weekend is when Jackie's Blogger's Block of the Month starts up. I can't wait to see what the first block looks like.

Ok, it's off to work for me. Well, it means staying right where I am and getting busy. Have a fun day!

Confessional

And just like that it was done. That's a lesson I just refuse to really learn. I mean I know it doesn't take long, I just refuse to buckle down till there's a deadline.

Machine quilting just isn't my favorite part of quilting. I want it to be, I love beautiful quilting, machine or by hand, but my patience just isn't always up to the part. That and my table is rarely cleared enough for extensive marking. EXCUSES. I'm full of them. Feel free to ask if you'd like some, I have more than enough for myself! Anyway, the owl is gone from the design wall in the hallway. No one is sorry about that, he just kept looking at us.

What did you guys do over the weekend. We're having a bit of a warm spell again.September always teases us with some cool weather and then kicks the thermostat up to the nineties again. Good thing I have some indoor work on photoshop to keep me busy. Hope you had fun. xo

So I cleaned off my sewing table.

Well sort of. I need to machine quilt and since my normal usable space is the size of dinner plate under my machine needle it had to be done.

I thought you might enjoy seeing it.

Have a happy weekend everybody!!! xo

Holding pattern

No sewing going on here. I'm just hanging out thinking any day my fabric will show up. Of course I've not given any thought to what I might make with it.

Do you read Molly Flander's blog? She's is making a wonderful spiderweb quilt using this ruler, and so OF COURSE I ordered one. I think it will be a handy one to have on hand. I love a pretty nosegay block. And of course love a nice copy cat.

So tell me, are you in love with Mollie Makes? I have a big of an obsession with it. Can't say no. Everything about it is cute. But expensive. Yikes.

Guess that's enough rambling for this morning. What are you up to?

They come and they go.

Sometimes the weekends are over in a flash, you know? I know I was busy, but doing what? Not sure.. I did get my blocks for Amy and Anabel done. Today I'll hop down to the post office and mail them to Sarah.

I also got some other sewing done. I've been invited to join in on a fun project, more details later this week. I hope you'll all be as excited as I am. More on that later.

I hope you had a good weekend!

Hot Spot!

So Wednesday was super fun. I took off at the crack of dawn. This is the last of my through the windshield photos, driving through agricultural areas of the valley leaves you with a very buggy window. I really am remiss about photos these days, so here's the highlights! If you want to check out what I made Amanda, check out her cool photos here.

After a delicious gobbler sandwich at The Black Bear, we headed up to Chico to Honey Run Quilters. The shop is completely cute, as is Carmen, the owner...

...which sadly isn't reflected in this photo.. I kept interrupting her chatting with Amanda. But look at this delicious wool quilt! Sorry Carmen, I had to show off this photo!

Next stop was Morning Star Quilts.Seriously people, could my photos be any lamer.. poor Amanda chopped off here.

Marsha has a warm and friendly store CHOCK FULL of delicious fabric. They were readying for a shop hop and everyone was working around the big cutting table, but still had time to visit with us.. you can see what a happy atmosphere it is.

I managed to pick up some fabrics even though OMG my own fabric will be showing up here soon!!! I saw so many fun things that I hadn't seen before. Of course it's always great to meet up with new friends in real life! Holy cow people .. since I began my blogging lifestyle my world is chock full of wonderfulness. That means I super love you guys.
Happy weekend. xo

Arts and Crafts

Spooky right?

I'm off on a fun day trip today! I'm heading up north to visit Amanda, you might know her better as Ms. McPork Chop. She's famous for a lot of stuff, including being one of the instigators of the whole Farmer's Wife Quilt Along. We're meeting up for our mutually favorite gobbler sandwiches at the Black Bear, then heading out for some quilt shop hopping!

Have a super day everybody!!! xo

Happy Happy

So what did you do with your long weekend? We had a 4 day weekend with Bret home, I love the Fridays he's been taking off, it is nice to have him home more, and I'm glad he's getting a chance to use up some of his vacation so he doesn't lose it.

We never do much of anything in particular.. in fact I can't even remember where we went that we headed out past the fruit stand. I love that 'cocos frios' sign.. it just makes me happy, doesn't cocos frios sound festive? Ok, well that must be just me, I'm not going to lie, Frankie rolls her eyes every time I say it. (which like an anoying child is over and over. and over)

Fruit is just everywhere, right? And good for you too. I know my little pal here loves fruit. I broke her out of jail a couple of times to play with me. She's not all that much of a playful pet but she enjoyed watching some tv with me.

Then later, she glared at me for allowing the dogs to bark. New dog in the neighborhood that barks A LOT. And it's making my dogs nuts. Which neither the rabbit or anyone else here appreciate.

Some days were warm, others pleasantly cool. I actually put on a sweater to read the tale end of my book this morning. Lovely English village cozy.. with some very fun characters. It was a good one.

We topped off the weekend by starting a mini improvement project late in the day. Me and my whims. Well it's something I've wanted to do like forever, and now it's almost done. Finally that big ugly builder's mirror is gone and almost in it's place is a framed mirror. Of course nothing is ever quite that easy, so really in it's place is a big spot that needs painting. And repairing. But that's another weekend right?

What did you do?

A slice of cake

Unearthed here at PKM Headquarters, a whole stack of half yard pieces of Piece O' Cake fabric from 2000, Sunday in the Park.

I still love it. I wonder what I had in mind for these? Well back into the vault for now. Those girls still have the same fresh style don't they?

Ok everybody, its the long weekend so I will see you back here when it's over!! Be safe and have fun! xo

Symptoms

This is a shocker right? I think it was the 26th that I posted the new ironing board cover and here it is.. still clean, an empty sight to behold. When I was growing up, my dad used to call us all 'pilots'. Not what you think, we 'piled it here and piled it there'.. a symptom of early onset hoarders probably.

Knowing that in a few weeks, dare I voice the numbers two or three, my advance yardage is coming, I really need to get a grip on things around here. It's a lot of yardage and it's going to take the jaws of life to cram it in. I wish I had a glamorous space to put it, I'm afraid to start with it will be on some kind of utility shelf. Because there's a lot of yards coming.

Speaking of things to come, did you see this? Holy cow.

So cleaning and organizing, with some yard work thrown in is what I did with my Wednesday. What about you?
